A Theatre Company for the stories in the grey
Greyspace
Hi, we’re Greyspace; a two-person theatre company who love to create character driven pieces that shine a light on unfair societal expectations. Our core value as a company is that we want to showcase those in the Greyspace of life - we represent people who consider themselves being outside of the box and encourage defying the stereotypes set out for them. We started the company as two experienced actors who wanted to create our own opportunities. Our characters challenge and give us chance to explore new ways of acting. The reason Greyspace initially came to be is because we grew tired of being pigeon holed into ill fitting roles and saw this as a chance to take control of our own careers.
Who We Are
FINELINE
“Am I hard to love?”
“No, Mil, you’re so easy to love. You're like a rainbow on a rainy day, who doesn’t love the sight of that.”
Josie's a counsellor focused on maintaining a successful career. Mil is a young adult forced into counselling to fix her issues she doesn’t believe are there. On the surface, they have nothing in common but during their time together they both learn they're in need of human connection. On a journey that brings them together, apart, and then together again, they discover that they deserve the love that has always been out reach. But can their friendship overcome setbacks as they stand on a ‘fine line' between right or wrong?
The Cofounders
JO BENTLEY Actor/Writer/Founder/Producer/Directing Dabbler
Jo is an Actor-writer from Liverpool (just without the scouse accent) who loves creating and playing with what acting can be. She graduated from the Lipa foundation course in 2021. Jo’s inspiration to start writing her own work came from a desire to tell stories close to her heart and creating characters she can relate part of herself too is not only an exciting challenge for her but it’s also oddly therapeutic. She’s always thought creating your own work is incredibly important and Fineline has become that. Since graduating, Jo has taken part in various writing courses, toured two Shakespeare plays in Dublin and West Kirby, performed in the Liverpool Fringe and went on various workshops. She’s currently working with Alderhey's '”. As well as setting up for rehearsals and everything Greyspace in the near future.
KATIE UTTING
Actor/Writer/Founder/Producer/Directing Dabbler
Katie is a creative from the midlands (yes, that’s a real place, and no, she won’t pick a side) who aspires to take on a multidisciplinary approach to performing and creating. Graduate from Royal Birmingham Conservatoire and Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, Katie co-founded Greyspace to placate her creative itch and make a space to delve into all aspects of her creative self. Katie is excited for some of these disciplines to come together as the world of Fine Line comes to life. Since graduating, Katie has taken the time to develop her practice, working with various companies and taking part in RnDs and workshops; she is very excited to be returning to Liverpool to work on everything Greyspace as well as to experience this wonderful city without being in the middle of a pandemic!
